Georgia is a country with rich history and culture, picturesque nature and hospitable people. The best way to get acquainted with it is to go on a off-road vehicle tour. This will allow you to see the most interesting places of the country, which are inaccessible by public transportation.
We present you a short story from one of our car rental customers about his journey.
On arrival in Tbilisi, we settled in a hotel in the city center for 3 nights to get to know the city a little.
Tbilisi is an amazing city located on seven hills. There are many interesting places to see here, including the Narikala Fortress, Metekhi Temple and others.
When planning our trip, the question of renting a car came up, as we didn't want to be dependent on excursion plans.
Our search for a rental company led us to RACE. We were given a list of available cars and without hesitation we chose the SUV Rangler Sahara, which was perfect for two people with small luggage. There is no better car for driving on steep mountain serpentines and off-road.
From Tbilisi we went to the mountains – Kazbegi. On the way we passed through picturesque villages where we stopped to admire the nature and taste the local cuisine.
Kazbegi is a high mountainous region. Here is located Gergeti Trinity Church, which is located at an altitude of 2170 meters above sea level. From here you can enjoy a stunning view of Mount Kazbek.
After, we traveled to Kakheti, a region known for its wines and vineyards. Here we visited several wineries where we tasted local drinks.
Next on the plan was Batumi, a resort modern city on the Black Sea coast. Here we enjoyed a beach vacation, swimming in the sea and walking along the promenade. There is also a lot of entertainment for tourists: beaches, water parks, parks and others.
In addition to the above, there are many other interesting places in Georgia, which we can recommend after visiting:
Kutaisi – an ancient city of Georgia, where Bagrati temple, Gelati and other architectural monuments are located.
Mtskheta is an ancient city, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Svetitskhoveli, Samtavro Cathedral and other historical objects are located here.
Akhaltsikhe – a fortress built in the XVI century.
Martvili Canyon – a natural park with caves, waterfalls and other attractions.
Prometheus Cave – one of the largest caves in the world.
The total length of the route was about 1500 kilometers. We traveled in a SUV, so we were able to pass through difficult sections of roads.
What cities and places we traveled through:
It was an unforgettable trip! We saw many beautiful places, got acquainted with Georgian culture and cuisine. Georgia is an amazing country that will leave you with vivid impressions.
If you plan to go on a jeep tour in Georgia, be sure to book your hotel and rental car in advance, especially in season, as you may not get what you want due to high demand.
Bring comfortable clothing and shoes, as well as insect repellent.
Be prepared that some roads may be in poor condition.
If you are not an experienced driver, it is better to bring a guide with you.
Examples of sightseeing time:
Tbilisi – 3-4 days
Kazbegi – 1 day
Sighnaghi – 1 day
Kakheti – 2 days
Batumi – 3-4 days
Of course, these times can vary depending on your interests and preferences. For example, if you want to visit more wineries in Kakheti, you will need more time. And if you just want to enjoy a beach vacation in Batumi, one day may be enough for you.
I hope this story will help you plan your trip to Georgia.
